about

Back around early 2006 when the proto version of Broken Records was just taking shape, Jamie made the dreadful mistake of leaving his digital 8 track recorder at Ian's flat after working on some demos.

Realising the error, Rory and Ian saw this as their fleeting chance to temporarily cast aside the strings and accordions and mandolins, and indulge their fondness for the electronics of 7VWWVW, Boards of Canada, Angelo Badalamenti and The Album Leaf. A secret side project was Go.

Armed with a knackered Zoom drum machine, old Yamaha keyboards, delay pedals, a flatmate's piano, Rory's shiny new microkorg, and a flimsy grasp of how Ableton worked, they set to it.

The resulting 4 improvisations, unearthed from the archives and released here for the first time after nearly 15 years, are... well, you decide...

Written, recorded and mixed by Rory Sutherland and Ian Turnbull

Except track 2 as a variation on 'Canon in D Major' (PWC 37) by Johann Pachelbel, with elements of Symphony No. 9 Op.125 by Ludwig van Beethoven, arranged by Rory and Ian because why not?

With thanks to Jamie Sutherland, Daniel Hall and the patient residents of 41 Comely Bank Road.
